Membership Requirements & Auditions

Looking for an outlet for your musical talents? Wanting to dust off your instrument and brush up on hidden talents? We'd like you to join us! Come sit in on a rehearsal or two and give us a try.

As a community band, the MHWS gives individuals an opportunity to learn and perform in a safe, fun and supportive environment. We welcome musicians of all ages* and skill levels to sit in with us, but membership is a vital part of being able to support the organization.

Membership with the MHWS is annual. Membership dues are $40 for adults and $20 for students. Dues are collected in February, or during the first month that you join the band. We request that you become a member in order to participate in concerts.

Dues help pay for a number of business expenses, such as music, instruments, advertising costs and various other operating expenses.

In addition, the uniform requirement for most concerts is our signature white polo shirt w/ the MHWS logo. You can purchase the uniform shirt for $25 from the treasurer or ask one of the board members.

High School players: Membership and performing with the MHWS may qualify for community service credits and may satisfy an instructor’s requirement for participation in a musical ensemble.

*Note: Students under 15 must be recommended by their bandleader or music teacher.
